Guest Post! Because Reading is Cool

Hi All!
I'm super excited to be swapping posts today with wonderful Allison over at allisonleighann! We both love to read and decided it would be great fun to discuss one of our favorite reads on eachother's blog!
Happy Monday!!

**********

Hello there, everyone!

My name is Allison, and I'm swapping guest posts with miss LB from LB In Wonderland today! I'm super excited to share with you all, and you should feel extra special because I almost never type in caps.

I like to think that I have a nifty little blog over at allisonleighann. I blog about my daily life, which happens to consist of college, traveling, a lot of talk about moving into a new apartment, and my excitement about going overseas this May. Oh, and my roommate shows up a good bit in pictures. You should check it out.

So anyways.
Back to this guest post.

I absolutely love to read. I don't have nearly as much free time this year as I used to, but I still use every opportunity that I can to encourage others to love the written word as much as I, and LB, do. So when she asked if I'd want to talk about one of my favorite books, I was all for it!

It took me a little while to settle on a book, as I literally have a floor to ceiling bookshelf in my room at my house with different books on it. Not only that, I have a few favorite books that I tend to always talk about. This time, however, I wanted to talk about a book that I don't normally mention. It's good to change things up sometimes, you know?

Thus-

I like many, many different genres of books. Everything from horror to adolescent fiction. So it was pretty difficult to figure out which book I wanted to use for this. Thankfully, I saw my mom pick this book up again today to re-read it, so I figured I'd use this one.

First, if you don't know who Ted Dekker is, YOU SHOULD. He is absolutely incredible. If you like mystery, suspense, and sometimes a little bit of paranormal activity or horror thrown in your books, these are the books for you. However, Black is not in the horror genre. It's a suspense novel. It's also the beginning of a 4 book series, so be ready to go on to the next book when you're done.

"Fleeing assailants through deserted alleyways, Thomas Hunter narrowly escapes to the roof of a building. Then a silent bullet from the night clips his head . . . and his world goes black.
From the blackness comes an amazing reality of another world where evil is contained. A world where Thomas Hunter is in love with a beautiful woman.
But then he remembers the dream of being chased through an alleyway as he reaches to touch the blood on his head. Where does the dream end and reality begin?
Every time he falls asleep in one world, he awakes in the other. Yet in both, catastrophic disaster awaits him . . . may even be caused by him.
Some say the world hangs in the balance of every choice we make. Now the fate of two worlds hangs in the balance of one man's choices."

This is Thomas Hunter's world.
And it's an incredible one to dive into.
It begins with Hunter being shot at for, apparently, no reason. This one instance starts a whole domino effect of happenings, and not only does Thomas have to deal with that, but he also goes to another "world" every time he falls asleep. With one world dealing with the possibility of an airborne virus that could wipe out the United States if they don't stop it and the other one dealing with a literal "evil" trying to take over, what's a man supposed to do?

It's such a good book.
I recommend it to anyone 13+. It's not mature content or anything inappropriate, but because of the governmental issues in it, anyone younger than 13 most likely wouldn't get the full grasp of the whole concept. However, I probably would've read it as a kid and loved it just the same.

So go out today, pick this book up, and let me know what you think when you're done with it! (:
I hope you're all having a great Monday.

xoxo
Allison
